BikeSafe Cymru 2007 Launch

Gwent Police is co-ordinating the launch of BikeSafe Cymru in association with Road Safety Wales and Gwent Road Resource Centre.

The launch event will take place at Abergavenny bus station on Sunday April 15, 2007 between 10am and 3pm (official launch 1pm) with Chief Constable Mike Tonge and MPs David Davies and Lembit Opik in attendance.

BikeSafe Cymru's main aim is to reduce motorcycle collisions on the roads of Wales. To help achieve this, a series of two day rider skill workshops have been arranged for 2007.

The workshops, run by Police Advanced Riders, are a mix of theory and practical sessions and will include on-road assessment rides, information videos, motorcycle-related first aid and other relevant issues. The workshops are designed to enhance the skills of all riders who have already passed their tests, and are particularly suitable for those that may be returning to biking after a period of absence and sports bike riders.

The fee is £80 and includes all of the above plus the provision of resources (Roadcraft manual etc).
